Not much to say I guess. Just feels a little funny for a Beastie Boy to be a) 47 and b) dead.

Nope. That was Run-DMC with "Walk This Way".
Beastie Boys was the outfit that blew out many a cheap speaker with "Paul Revere".

Damn, got to see them in concert a couple of times. :'(
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

I was at the first Beastie Boys show, they opened for a band called the Bad Brains, it was a small venue on Bleecker Street.

Beasties were playing hardcore punk, and about 5 people were in the "mosh pit" ... When the Bad Brains came on there was about 40 in the pit and one hundred people watching the show from a safe distance.

Everyone said the beasties stunk and would never go anywhere, weird how things work out.

Now everyone knows beastie boys and only few know of the Bad Brains, hard to describe how awesome early uncrowded Bad Brains shows were.

RIP Adam

Never heard of them until now ...  =|

I first listened to Beastie Boys in Jr High and got into The Bad Brains in college.  I just found out the other day they (Bad Brains) still have concerts.  I found out by hearing about a concert in the DC area the day after.  ;/

OMG, you're familiar with Bad Brains??? Saw them at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, hung out with them after the show for a while, was my favorite to listen to for ages. You wouldn't happen to have any of the old recordings would you?

Mtnbkr - I googled them a few years ago to see if they were still around somewhere and to see if they had DVDs out (I wore my cassette tapes out YEARS ago), but didn't get a single hit.

I first saw the Bad Brains in 1978 - I was an 18yr old punkrocker/anarchist living in NYC east village, it was truly freaking dangerous at the time, it is only by the grace of God I'm still alive to talk about it.

in 1978 the punkers were still pogo-ing and slamming wasn't yet in vogue, I lived at various times in "Studio 10" across the street from CBGB's and in the "Palace Hotel"  above CBGB's .... it was far far far from a palace.

the only BB music I ever owned was the ROIR yellow cassette tape, I wish I did have that! it would be worth something to collectors.

HR, lead singer of the Bad Brains is now completely bonkers- so if you miss a show these days you are not missing anything ....

In the seventies every show started with a chant by the audience and HR
"we will not do what you want or do what you say, no no!"  we would chant that for awhile then the Brains would start with Big Takeover & it was instant riot
