Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

LOL...

That was always my thought whenever Jeff Cooper called .223/5.56 "poodle shooters". Seeing as he was definitely not a poodle, he'd have no problem being shot at by one from somewhere between 100 and 600 yards.
I promise not to duck.

Bad argument.

Getting kicked in the crotch isn't a mortal wound, that doesn't mean I am willing to stand and take one to the manhood.

All pistol rounds suck and most people shot by a pistol survive, doesn't mean I want to try that either.
I’m not saying I invented the turtleneck. But I was the first person to realize its potential as a tactical garment. The tactical turtleneck! The… tactleneck!

So bad, it's been discredited often enough, and does no credit to anyone defending the .223 round.

Exactly my point. It's unwise to be so caviler so as to dismiss any of them.  =)

It's one thing to say "I like .30 battle rifle calibers because they're better." but to just be so dismissive is silly. I get that the Col. was engaging in hyperbole, but it got old when even as a kid I could tell he was getting rather repetitive with "poodle shooter" and "crunchenticker".

Kind of like Eminem. He was a genius, then he got repetitive.
