Microsoft Internet Security BEWARE
« on: July 03, 2012, 10:11:06 PM »
I just started up one of my XP machines. I got online and suddenly had a scan going saying I had a bunch of malware and stuff. I don't have Microsoft Internet Security.

I started up Microsoft Security Essentials and it quickly found a file it didn't recognize. It may be a brand new trojan to help us enjoy our celebration of the fourth.

Keep an eye out for it.

Your system is borked.

Yes, that's the technical term for it.

I've had to pull that pest off of several systems over the years.  Usually MalwareBytes will find and kill it in short order.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

Watch-out using combofix.

That prog almost bricked my home computer. Took me two days to resuscitate.

Malwarebytes took care of it. I left it running on that machine and didn't recheck it till yesterday.
