TORONTO -- An accused drunk driver tried but failed to foil a police breathalyser after stuffing his mouth full of feces. "I don't think alcohol alone would make you do something as disgusting as that," Insp. Tom McDonald said.

Arrested Sunday after his pickup was pulled over on a highway just outside Barrie, Ont., the 59-year-old driver was put in a cruiser and taken to a police station for testing.

Sgt. James Buchanan said the prisoner vomited, urinated and defecated in the rear of the squad car.

After arriving at the station, he said the man grabbed a handful of his own waste "and placed it in his mouth, attempting to trick the breathalyser machine."

It didn't work, Buchanan said.

Breathalyser tests registered twice the legal limit of alcohol in the man, he said. The man was charged with impaired driving.

Wow, that's pretty gross. On Mythbusters they tried to foil a breathalyzer using all kinds of methods but nothing worked for them either. I don't think they tried this guy's way though.

Brethalyzers are pretty hard to fool.  Just covering up the smell of alcohol doesn't actually remove it from your breath.  Bet he won't try that again.

Try coughing a lot before they make you blow into it. I thought they needed to observe you for 10-15 minutes before the actual test to make sure they get a untainted reading and coughing could make it read higher than normal. Then when you go into court the tainted reading could cause the case to get dismissed. BS?

I once foiled a breathalyzer by blowing through my nose as much as I could. I had to do it twice for it to register.

Then again, I've often wondered if the police officer "let me slide" because I passed all the other field tests.

Gee, and I thought I had the worst case, where a guy asked to use the restroom, and grabbed the urinal deodorizer/puck thing and started sucking on it.  Little did he know what other options were available...
