Elected Ambulance Chasers
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:41:15 PM »
I'm trying to find out how many Legislators are lawyers, and of that group, how many specialized in tort cases.  Anyone know a source?

Here is a handy map showing the demographics of the state legislatures.  I am not aware, off the top of my head, as to data showing legal specialty of legislators who are attorneys.   I will think about it and post back here if I find anything.

Lawyers making laws = conflict of interest
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Lawyers making laws = conflict of interest

How is that any more of a conflict of interest than any other group making laws?  Business owners in the legislatures make laws and policies that directly and indirectly influence their profits.  K-12 educators in the legislature make laws dealing with teacher tenure.  Should the legislature be only made up of people with no ties at all to the private sector?

I would have no problem with making the holding of a law degree a lifetime dis-qualifier for being elected to public office.
