Bank of America Hit by Likely Terrorist Cyberattack

I was trying to get to the site at 0700 PDT without luck, so I think it was being hit much longer than the article states.

That was just me, protesting the fact they sent me a past due notice for a balance that isn't due until October 1.

Gotta find an alternate bank for the wife's primary credit card ...

Did you feel the "terror" when you couldn't log on?

"Terrorist cyberattack" is the new codeword for "poor security and infrastructure".

Instead of "We don't feel like hiring intelligent folks to design our web infrastructure, infosec folks, DR geeks and an information architect. Because we don't want to spend the money and the work environment has enough Byzantine policies to give Kafka an aneurysm.", they can say "Terrorists have attacked us!"

"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

I have reached a conclusion regarding every member of this forum.
I no longer respect any of you. I hope the following offends you as much as this thread has offended me:
You are all awful people. I mean this *expletive deleted*ing seriously.

Hawkmoon,

You might want to look into USAA.... You're eligible.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

While I feel badly for anyone impacted by this, I don't feel badly for the fact that it is happening to Bank of America, the world's worst excuse for a bank.

I can't even imagine.
Stuff like Sarbanes-Oxley on the private sector side is enough to give even low level workers daily headaches.

I've implemented Sarbanes Oxley, and ITAR, and PCI-DSS, and DITSCAP.

No, some folks and some companies love absurdly Byzantine processes and paperwork. BoA is one of those. It's bad at any large organization. Some are just plain insane. Yes, some regs are insane. But I never tried to put all the blame on regs for UTC weirdness, it was mostly due to Six Sigma.
