The end is nigh!
« on: September 30, 2012, 10:18:38 AM »
Just finished reading Pat Caddell's speech about the current state of the media. Nothing really new or earth shattering but I have to tell you, it pretty much depresses me to realize just how far gone we are.

When our only hope is Mitt Romney (the slower handbasket) and he is portrayed as an extremist right winger by the media you know we're toast.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

It doth amuse, does it not, the way in which Romneys and McCains are chosen because they are not too extreme, and are so likable, and indeed, our betters in the left-wing press recommend them to us for just such virtues; then after they are chosen the press discovers that they are, in fact, utterly hateful and hating extremists, whom to choose is utter madness and folly, and in the age of Obama, most certainly racism.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

It really bugs the heck outta me too!

I remember sitting in a San Francisco coffee shop one day, eavesdropping on a couple of gay guys talking politics-they were saying why cant we cons choose a middle of the roader like mccain, of when that happened they still probably voted for the extreme lefty.

It seems like we always do this to ourselves don't we?
Also, when we get a conservative in office all of a sudden he/she does a left turn to get stuff done, when will we get a moderate in there that does a hard right turn?
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

How many roads must a man walk down?
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

42!!!
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
