How Did Your Congress-tyrant Vote?
« on: June 30, 2006, 09:46:47 PM »
There was a vote on June 28 to attempt to end the federal government's war on the sick and dying.

The vote got more "yeas" than ever so we're making progress.  My congress-coward didn't even vote for some reason:

Second that! How in the hell are we supposed to know whether or not to be outraged or exhilerated if we don't know what our congress-clowns voted on???

its always helpful if the thread starter includes a link to the legislation, such as a House Bill number, so we can check it out before making comments.

It's regarding some amendment to the following:

H.R.5672
Title: Making appropriations for Science, the Departments of State, Justice, and Commerce, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2007, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep Wolf, Frank R. [VA-10] (introduced 6/22/2006)      Cosponsors (None)

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:h.r.5672:

I believe the referred amendment is the following:

46. H.AMDT.1143 to H.R.5672 An amendment to prohibit the use of funds from being made available to prevent the States of Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, or Washington from implementing State laws authorizing the use of medical marijuana, and directing the Attorney General to transfer from available appropriations for the current fiscal year for the Department of Justice any amounts that would have been used for such purpose but for this section to the Drug Enforcement Administration to assist State and local law enforcement with proper removal and disposal of hazardous materials from illegal methamphetamine labs, including funding for training, technical assistance, a container program, and purchase of equipment to adequately remove and store hazardous material.
Sponsor: Rep Hinchey, Maurice D. [NY-22] (introduced 6/28/2006)      Cosponsors (None)
Latest Major Action: 6/28/2006 By unanimous consent, the Hinchey amendment was withdrawn.

Yes, but I'm especially glad I was wrong about the first part.

Mine voted for the New Deal big-government interpretation of the Constitution.

I think I'll print up a copy of Justice Thomas' dissent and mail it to him.

By the way, given the direct relevance to firearms laws, shouldn't this thread be on THR? Wink
