Those folks make up way more than 4% of the voting population.  I know - I've seen them!

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

It astonishes me that there can still be undecided voters at this point.  I doubt any meaningful number of self-described "undecided" voters are weighing a "Gary or Mitt?" sort of decision.  In any election in which the incumbent is running, it's "re-elect, or throw the rascal out".  I don't see how it can be that hard to decide.

"Gary or Mitt?"

Yeah, it would be really nice if Barry wasn't one of the options.

One isn't a meaningful number ?   :P

Since MT is forecast to go solidly Romney, then the only question is vote my conscience or bump up the popular vote numbers in case this goes to the courts again ...  =|

Undecideds could be anything.

There are some people who put a great deal of effort in avoiding any politics.

But I think the majority of undecideds are...
People who grow up in one tribe, and are tempted to switch tribes; but haven't fully convinced themselves. Or the group they are in (work, school, church, ethnic, etc) are a different tribe and they are beginning to be changed to conform to the chosen identity.

Why is this the most likely explanation?
Glad you ask...

52% O
44% R
4% U

Today
50% R
47% O
3% U

How can the polls swing sooo much with roughly the same % undecided? Did massive numbers of Obama supporters switch sides??? Not likely...
Obama supports are being convinced by the new tribe they are identifying with, got disenchanted and became "undecided".
The early undecideds became convinced to support Romney. Maybe a small % swung all the way from O to R, but this is a pretty rough transition to make, and is atypical. Those who make such a large swing are likely from group 1 that I mentioned (these are just going with crowd, who ever looks to be a "winner").

BTW, I find it funny that Obama is polling at "47%".

Some of that is what Rush mentioned as the polls assuming high Democrat enthusiasm and over sampling Democrats as a result.

Isn't Gary the name of the snail from Spongebob? If so, I might be one of those undecided voters between Mitt and Gary. Either versus Obama is a no-brainer, though.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Y'know, I think it would be priceless if Team-O went to all the trouble to rig the voter counting in some swing states . . . only to lose New York.

Gawd, that would be pure win.

any Citizen that is 'undecided' at this point, is either totally uninformed (and by choice), abysmally stupid (and should not be allowed to vote) or posturing for attention.

My impression of undecided voters is that they think they are being very informed and are agonizing over their choice because it's so important.  In reality most of them don't see that the rest of us either are laughing at them or shaking our heads in unbelief at their incredible stupidity.

I think the undecideds are waiting for someone to tell them how to vote or using their Magic 8-Ballâ„¢.

I'm thinking there has to be a fair percentage of self described "undecided" as just not wanting to tell the pollster who they plan to vote for.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms.
