Find the sniper rifle
« on: October 28, 2012, 05:24:47 PM »
Kid apparently (presumption on my part) opened his trunk for cops who were staking out a strip mall for under-age booze buying.

Not a good idea.  Especially if he's under age and DUI.

Go ahead, find the sniper rifle.  Should be easy to spot - it's military-grade.

stay safe.

Quote
SAN DIEGO -- A 20-year-old San Diego State student faces charges after officers discovered a cache of firearms in the trunk of his car.

When Moore opened the trunk of his white Honda Civic, two officers noticed what appeared to be military-grade weapons inside. They found nine guns, including a modified sniper rifle, a pistol and a rifle.

A military knife was also discovered.

Moore was given a field sobriety test and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police say he could also face charges for the weapons.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

What the heck is a military knife?

You've probably never seen one before, since they're illegal.

Also, I think they meant to say "weapons cachet."

Ahhh, when will the commoner subjects learn that they are just not professional enough to have in their possession modified, military grade sniper weapons.

I mean MODIFIED MILITARY GRADE!!! SNIPER!!! I suspect you can fire those from the hip. Luckily they weren't of the assaulting class or the two brave officers could have been injured.

Welcome to the Peoples Republic of California. Don't forget to surrender your full-auto high-capacity anti-aircraft SKS of mass destruction.

Good thing he didn't have a full auto bayonet with a shoulder thingy that goes up.

sniper rifle

More and more, a state of mind rather than a particular object.  As this article demonstrates. ;/

The handguns, for sure. But all of the long guns look like AK47s, weapons of mass murder around the world, to me. Well, one does look like a 1973 Gremlin, but it is a fuzzy picture!  =|    ;)

No such thing, we don't use them anymore, my commander in chief told me so.

At least he didn't have one of those grenade launching SKSs that are only used by serial killers.

Did you make up this thing about the serial killers, or was there some journalistic stupidity I missed?

I notice the article does not say he was intoxicated or failed the sobriety test.  Unless more info comes out, I bet they just used that as the excuse since they had nothing else to arrest him for.

What is the min age for possession in California?

A few comments below the article say he was arrested in a sting for purchasing alcohol with a fake ID.  If so, that is key info left out.

Highly unlikely. Dragunovs are expensive and rare. I would guess it's a PSL.

Matters little IMHO.  Unrelated activities.

There were a bunch of Norinco NDM-86 Dragunovs imported into Kalifornia prior to the 1999 SB-23 ban.

I know, I bought one and immediately took it with me to Florida when I got a new assignment - along with all my other "banned" toys.

The funny thing was, I got a letter a few months later from the Kalifornia Department of Justice (misnomer) requiring me to register those banned guns with them or face arrest.

I sent it back to them, telling them to come to Florida and try to take them, since I was no longer stationed in their jurisdiction.

I haven't heard anything since...
