Are most kids this damn stupid?  I remember way back as a teen in HS, we did some real stupid *expletive deleted*it. But this has me scratching my head. In my day this game would never has been played because everyone would have know that in small town east Texas you stood a Great Chance of getting shot

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

So, once the neighborhood folks get used to the idea of "teens playing games" in their yards, the real bad guys decide to take advantage of this new level of self-imposed Condition White.

Alternatively, some teen unable to take the hint winds up with a free ambulance ride.

Technically, a lot of the local parks had "until dusk" rules that we kids routinely violated. No one really cared unless someone was committing vandalism. Local police had little interest in leaving their police cars, so as long as you were out of sight of roads, you were good to go.

In a park, woods, hell anywhere in town that is a public place, it sounds like a fine way to pass the time. Private property? Jumping fences? *expletive deleted*ing stupid. When one of them gets shot or jumps into the wrong dogs back yard who wants to bet it wont be the teen getting blamed?

And yet kids played those games all the time.

The differences are important -
- kids back then stopped playing "Cops & Robbers" somewhere before they became teenagers
- kids back then stayed in their neighborhood, where folks knew them and they knew folks
- kids back then listened when a neighbor came out and said "That's enough for tonight.  Y'all go back home to bed now."

These kids are at least smart enough to know that running around with airsoft guns (remember the craze for doing that a few years ago - playing "Assassin" and the like?) can get you killed.

It also sounds as if the place is small-town enough not to have serious street gangs with turf issues.

The first person to open up a lazer-tag place there is going to make a fortune.  If they can stay open all night on the weekends they could make several fortunes.

When I was a kid in the sixties the teenagers would "play" by shooting zip guns at each other, zip guns with car antenna barrels!
Kids in the 50's? Didn't they play "chicken" with cars?

Haven't kids always been pretty stupid? I got a bb stuck right above my eye playing war when I was 10 or 11, and at 8 or 9 the kids in my building had a war with the kids in the next building - by throwing good sized rocks that sent a few to the hospital.

Yup, I think most boys can be quite stupid and in my case, it hurt plenty of times, I even got sent to the hospital.
One time I woke up in the hospital, with a terrible headache - but I was bummed out because I was unconscious for the ambulance ride ;/ :cool:

That pretty much nails it.  And to build on the 3rd part - when we got caught doing something stupid by an adult, we were apologetic...no FU's thrown their way.
