Damn.....RIP Sir. :'(
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

Welcome to Valhalla General.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

RIP, Norman.

His finest on-camera moment was when he said that the best way to get "disinformation" to the Iraqi Army was to bring in a select group of US journalists, swear them to secrecy on the basis of American lives being at risk, and then let them in on the war plan.

A false war plan.  >:D

He knew that these journalists - despite their vow of secrecy and risk to American lives - would "leak" the war plan and that the leak would reach Saddam's side.

And the US press corps didn't disappoint him - he knew he could count on them to act against US interests. And they did.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

None since Patton till he came along, and he managed to keep out almost all of Patton's bad side.

I spent about 25 seconds talking with him one afternoon - and it was a conversation he started!  Not just a "Hi, How are ya?" but a meaningful comment of support.  For an Army guy he really seemed to like Marines, too.

RIP

I know what I'd choose, but I think an M1 tank might be a bit large to fit in his coffin. Could always go the other way around and bury him inside the M1 though.

he seemed like a good guy, RIP.

Not sure how much he liked the M9, but he carried one in order to inspire confidence in the issued weapon with the troops. He seemed the type that, if shooting started around him, he'd grab a rifle & shoot back.

His autobiography surfaced memories I'd long forgotten.  When he was a kid he lived in Saudi.  He was describing the sights and sounds of a local bazaar.  Brought me back too many decades to a different culture in an different part of the world where I experienced similar sights and sounds.  I will always be appreciative of that trip in a time machine.

Post Vietnam the military was a mess. He along with others decided to stick it out and helped create the military we were all proud of in Gulf I.  I hope we others of his caliber in que because we need them.

RIP Sir.

I remember sitting in our dayroom up at Ft. Aintwright watching DS & GW I on CNN and wondering why there weren't more officers and generals in particular, like him in the Army. Our CGs always seemed like hacks.

Anyways, I think this is the man who should have been president. We'd have been much better off now if he had.
