Count the errors in this anti-gun column
« on: January 02, 2013, 10:48:01 PM »
This piece of drivel was published in today's Decatur Daily: http://www.newsday.com/opinion/oped/crisp-armed-school-guards-may-do-more-harm-than-good-1.4392398

Read through it on an empty stomach, and try to count the specious arguments, logical fallacies, distortions and outright lies. First one to get the count right gets a free pair of moccasins. ;)

Quote from: refered article
Lanza attacked Sandy Hook Elementary with high-powered, high-capacity weapons, including an assault rifle. He was protected with body armor. He was prepared to take on another shooter and might even have relished the opportunity.

 ???
So why did he shoot himself as the police arrived?

Quote from: refered article
He was protected with body armor.

Body armor?  Or was it one of those "tactical vests" that are used to carry tactical "stuff?"

Quote from: refered article
But how well trained will the volunteer guard at, say, Anytown Elementary School in Anytown, Utah, be? What kind of a weapon will he have? Where will he be at the moment an unhinged but highly motivated shooter enters the school? I do not question the skills, training, will, or courage of the 100,000 policemen and retired soldiers that the NRA proposes to place in our schools, but I question whether we're willing, and whether we can afford, to provide them with the kind of firepower or the strategic advantages required to stand up against a determined shooter like Adam Lanza.

Well, I guess we all ought to bend over and kiss our own asses good-bye, then.
I guess one AR and two handguns makes someone into a Superbionic Rambo.  And no we obviously are too hardpressed to pay $1,000 for an AR-15 or two handguns to equal Adam Lanza's deadly arsenal.

This wasn't a Decatur Daily article but the DD picked it up off the wire.  I'm not surprised.  I wouldn't wrap a fish in the Decatur Daily.

Isn't it a common behavior that these mass shooter nuts almost always stop and give up or kill themselves when they meet resistance?

Also, it has been pointed out that this shooting did not cause a gun buying spree.
1.  Gun purchases have been trending up since 2003 I believe.
2.  Black gun purchases were rising after the election before the shooting.
3.  It was the threat of gun control that caused the sharp increase in gun purchases after the shooting, not the shooting itself.

Also, many school districts already have police officers and security on staff.  Texas A&M has its own police department.  The junior college I went to had security officers.  I think most colleges and universities already have at least security people.  Anyway, her assertion that it will cost a whole lot is foolish.  Our schools are often over funded already.  Cut some federal regulations to free up some administrator positions and convert them to school LEO jobs.

Of course, just removing the barriers to teachers carrying concealed would cost taxpayers nothing.

I think a lot of these gun banning liberals must watch too many horror movies and imagine all these killers are evil supermen.  Most have been the opposite.

I counted 22, but I think I missed one or two while I was banging my head against the brick wall, cussing a blue streak, or trying to find the wastebasket to puke in (but it was OK 'cause it was only the dry heaves).

I am not counting the one they did not print - that the kids have absolutely no chance under the current practices.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

No kidding.  I hate this double standard of robo-evil Adam Lanza and his bionic bullet hose of doom, coupled with the notion of poor little biddy teachers that couldn't possibly fend him off without anything less than a full SWAT team with overlapping fields of fire.

How does stuff like that NOT get splashed all over, well, EVERYWHERE? Dude's calling for torturous murder of specific people, and less-specific murder of tens of millions of other individuals - if you or I did that by voice in front of onlookers, there's a damn good chance we'd get to spend some quality time with the cops. That writer just put death threats in PRINT for thousands of people to read.

Because he's calling for the murder of the "right" people. Make no mistake, he and his ilk are our mortal enemies and wish to see us dead. The progun side needs to dispense with the bullshit of politeness and  "trying to get them to see our side" and realize that they want us dead in the end and we need to fight them tooth and nail.

Body armor?  Or was it one of those "tactical vests" that are used to carry tactical "stuff?"

According to the official Connecticut State Police spokesman, it was ... a fishing vest. With lots of pockets.

We shoulda just sent Adam Lanza to kill Osama and liberate the Middle East. Disturbed teens are simply unstoppable when wearing tactical vests and toting high cap mags.

The first error was the sign, "NRA killing our kids."

The second was "magazine clips."

That's enough for me.

Good point, but the progun side has always had the "vote from the rooftops", keyboard commandos. I guess the thing that irks me most is that the anti gun loudmouths are always pointing out the violent language used by some progun folks and ignore the comments from their own side. Hypocrites.

I am not going to stoop to their level, as I have logic, reason, and basic liberty on my side.
