OMG!! a "loaded" revolutionary war cannon found in NYC!
« on: January 11, 2013, 09:39:16 PM »
A rev war cannon which had been sealed in concrete shortly after the Civil War was discovered in NYC.
Thankfully it was disarmed before it went on a spree kill.

I wonder if they would have arrested the property owner if it had been found on private land?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

"They obviously bought that land with the full knowledge that a loaded cannon was sealed up there 150 years ago in order to avoid the mandatory Revolutionary War Cannon Registration and Carry Restrictions."

police removed the powder, but left the cannonball,

Now there's a trick I would have liked to have seen performed.

Just think if it had been a fused shot - they would have had to unload the cannonball as well as the cannon.  Try explaining that to the viewers.

stay safe.

I imagine the canon restorers removed the powder from the barrel

I don't cotton to them fancy, big city types, with their two-ply toilet paper, and other such frippery.
