A. This is a media hit piece to highlight unregulated gun sales between private parties.

B. Why is the picture for the last link an RPG when the weapon sold was a Stinger?

One... crafty... comment on "dcxposed" says:

Quote
Ya know, if someone were a real prick, they could TOTALLY take advantage of this and get a free bit of cash for their gun. Find out a few weeks before this will take place, report your gun as stolen, and now if it was registered in your name, it is out of your name. Have a friend go turn the damn thing in, split the money, then when they call you to return your “stolen” firearm, you now have your gun, and some money in your pocket. If you do it solo, all the money goes to you.

I wouldn't try it with anything of any value.  But it would be interesting to see if SPD's claim that they'll return stolen guns to original owners is true or not.  I somehow doubt their sincerity or degree of effort they would put into such an attempt.

Awesome. I was hoping to do something like that someday if any happen near me. Wonder how long till it gets used as a sting operation to sell an NFA weapon to an unsuspecting person,  [tinfoil]

Mayor Mike McGinn said at a news conference the private transactions are a loophole that needs to be closed. “There’s no background checks, and some (guns) could be exchanged on the streets that shouldn’t be in circulation.”

And making it illegal for people to sell "on the streets" without going through a background check is going to stop the ones "that shouldn't be in circulation".

I wonder if this was a planned event amongst the local gun owners or did they all just happen to come to the same idea?

Because they want you to think that he bought one of them terrorist RPGs with a round on the end that was live. Not some used up launcher.

"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

I have a broken down Erma .22. If one of these is ever near me I plan to attend with said POS and a wad of cash to buy anything nice I see.

The last few local gun buy backs have been attended by buyers looking for deals.  Most of the stuff is junk, but a buddy of mine picked up a Norinco MAK 90 that was in mint condition for $200.

With a little work you could make a few hundred "assault weapons" for a lot less than $200 each. CNC mill, 3d printer for the furniture, no need for some of the internal parts, and you could make a lot of semi auto Stens or Uzis.
