2.23
« on: February 23, 2013, 05:51:39 PM »
Did anyone go to the "2.23" rallies today?

I went to mine in AZ at the capitol.  Good fun running around the capitol with a rifle, pistol, and a hundred rounds of ammo (mag in rifle, spare rifle mag on kydex belt carrier... mag in pistol, spare pistol mag in kydex belt carrier).  Blue jeans and polo shirt, loaded 20" AR with ACOG slung over my shoulder.

Much more structured this time than the one a month ago.

Slimebag JD Heyworth was there... the neocon puke that's 100% gung-ho for Patriot Acts and Statist power of various forms.  Trying to pass himself off as a constutionalist conservative, nowadays.  He's lost a couple of elections recently so he's trying to rebrand himself.  Event had planned speakers, a stage, an agenda.  I was listening closely for anyone to present a surrender on any particular topics.  I didn't hear any.  I don't feel that the HELL NO! sentiment was strong enough towards Universal Background Checks, but then again I was the radicalized azzhat in the back of the crowd shouting "come and take it!" or "they can damned well try!" every few minutes. >:D

How was yours?

People came and wanted to shoot skeet in the miserable weather so I had to run the godforsaken skeet range. Oh, and when one of them broke a clay from the lowhouse at station 1 I got hit in the head with half a clay pigeon. Skeet shooting- its almost as worthless as golf. Im considering writing a bill to ban it as being against the principle of the 2nd Amendment.

Went to a gun show. Sold a bunch of stuff to facilitate my escape to freedom.

I married off the daughter (again).
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

We had a small local one at the courthouse for the folks who didn't want to drive 3 hours to the Capitol.   I would guess about 150-200 turned out for it, including the DA, sheriff, two city council members and a couple of the county commissioners.

Speakers:
Kirby Lack, Luby's survivor
Raz Shafer on behalf of Sen. Ted Cruz
State Sen. Craig Estes was at another rally, and the staffer he'd sent to ours had a minor wreck, so he emailed a written statement at the last minute.
Congressman Roger Williams
Dr George Eichenberg - Keynote speaker.  He's also our backup speaker for 9/12 meetings, since he can easily fill an hour with interesting history of the Federal government and its abuses.

I wasn't aware of anything planned in Montana.

Besides, it snowed most of the day and wasn't a very good day to be driving anywhere.
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin
