Bronc rider - severe concentration
« on: August 05, 2006, 07:14:31 PM »
My cousin's son has decided to give bronc riding a try. The kid (man) has always had a hankerin' to try his hand at it. I guess after a tour as a Bradley driver in the heart of the worst fighting in Iraq the little snit can pretty much hack anything.

If I concentrated that hard my face would fall off.

I would submit it to any rodeo mag, title it 'Concentration' or any State Fairs you are near.

Thats a great pic!

That's not concentration, that's too many bean burritos for lunch.

I've never thought of that sport  as anything other than insane; but I can't help but respect those who survive even one season.

Good on the young man!

Yea, if'n I was a bit younger I'd seriously entertain the idea of gettin' up on one of them there bulls. Of course there IS one crazy SOB out there doing it that's just as old as I am. Don't ask me how he does it. shocked

Nice shot Brad.

Back when I was young/dumb/stoopid, I tried a Brahma bull.  I lasted six seconds.  They pay for eight. Smiley

The first rodeo I ever went to was at Pecos, back in 1952.  I saw a bareback rider get bucked down; kicked in the back of his head.

He didn't learn; came back for saddle-bronc.  He got bucked down again, but the horse was pitching fore-and-aft.  He got bucked off backwards, and got kicked in the same place, right on the big wad of bandage.   Blood splattered, and they carried the guy off on a stretcher.

Hey, guess what?  I'm a World Champion Spectator!

But I'd rather watch calf-roping; that's more like what real ranching is about...

I enjoy the calf roping as well.  The last few times I have seen a rodeo, goat tying has been my favorite.

Title : "Concentration"!

Sub-Title " Pucker-Factor!"

Very Nice Photo Indeed!

For some reason, bulls like to chase me. So I got [strike] this bright idea [/strike] roped into the idea of getting atop one.
About 4 - 5 seconds and then is was all arses and elbows...
Beng timed by a pocketwatch...

I actually stayed on one 9 seconds, granted this was in Gilley's [dates me huh"] and when I unarsed  from that high setting - I took out the lady I was with, folks next to her, longnecks and my Stetson went flying the other direction.

Here's a shot of him walking out of the arena. Kinda hard to look happy when you only went 1.5 seconds on the ride.

Good equipment, fast hands, lots of practice, and Photoshop.

I don't care if I get bucked off out of the gate, I will ride a bull or bareback bronc someday.  One of the few actual goals I would like to accomplish in my life.
