Five people dead south of Seattle
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:43:14 PM »
http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20130422/NEWS03/130429962#Police-Man-killed-girlfriend-3-others-in-Federal-Way

An instance of a mass murder done by someone with a valid carry permit.  A domestic violence situation gone horribly magnified.

Violence in Federal Way - who would have ever expected that?   ;/

Is Federal Way still 95% populated by Korean computer parts stores?  Or was that just a 90's thing?

ETA: Reason I bring it up, is because there was a string of Korean killings a few years back, where boyfriend would whack girlfriend for some reason or other, then off himself or get caught afterwards.  Sounds like this could be another instance of that.  No clues in the article if this is the case or not.

It still has a significant Korean presence.  There is lots of offshore Korean investment there under the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program.

Supposedly Dennis Clark III.

I guess he could be of the Korean Clarks, but probably not.  Grandmother named Lillie Johnson.

The Korean thing I was talking about is very much a first generation immigrant thing.  Doesn't seem like it applies here.

Were you hoping the shooter was a white American Korean?

Note that the permit was irrelevant, it only regulates concealed carry outside the home.  This happened in the parking lot and hallway of his home and involved, in part, a shotgun.

The "concealed carry killers" folks will lump it in but, as in so many of their cited cases, the permit was meaningless.

Or the lack thereof  ;)

Unfortunately, they will say it shows how unstable permit holders are and how they can't be trusted to just start killing people at random.

The reality is that some permit holders do stuff like this, but at a much lower rate then the general population.

Right, but as you note we point out, for the benefit of the non-aligned, the numbers on misuse and that this was a domestic violence situation that occurred at his home with a shotgun, it had no relationship to the anti's favorite "what-if" of a permit holder getting into shoot-outs over a parking space with his concealed handgun and would have occurred even if lawful concealed carry didn't exist.

But CCW encourages us to solve our problems with guns, you see.

The larger "we." ;)

You're right of course fistful, but if we make rational arguments, a few of the unaligned folks will see the anti's stretches of logic and reason for what they are.  One by one we will bring them into the light.

That's partly what helped with the gun bill after all, that we forced them to admit it wouldn't actually stop a Newton and exposed the contradiction in their statements and position to the undecideds.

Cops are known to commit domestic violence also.

Wasn't there an incident pretty recently where a lady cop killed some family members  ???

My short term whatever-its-called isn't too good lately   ;)
