Darwinism thwarted by the government
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:17:35 PM »
Thanks to regulations, the people in UK can now can now be safe death from eating peanuts, out of a bag of peanuts. The label has been applied, so that any one too stupid to realize the bag of peanuts, is in fact peanuts, will be spared.

Quote
Store pulls monkey nuts from shelves over 'peanut warning'

A supermarket chain has withdrawn bags of nuts - after failing to declare they may contain peanuts.

The Food Standards Agency issued an allergy alert saying the presence of peanuts was not declared on Booths' own brand packets of monkey nuts. <snip> The term 'monkey nuts' describes peanuts with the shell or pod intact.

I am so thankful that the Food Standards Agency ensures food standards are adhered to when people need to read food standards to know what they are consuming.

Imagine what would have happened if someone bought a bag of monkey nuts thinking they were Brazil nuts, or walnuts, or sunflower seeds.  Why, without the Food Standsards Agency standard lablel warning, confusion would reign.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

What if they were actually monkey nuts?
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Well, if they were processed in a factory that also processes peanuts, they still need a peanut warning label.

What we have here is a case of too many Califonicators moving to the UK; just like Colorado!

I'm always amazed at the number of consumer items that are labeled "do not eat". Things like packets of silica gel or Silly Putty (which is probably edible).

Years back a guy had an idea to vacuum dropped popcorn from movie theaters, bag it, and sell it as packing material. It would remain in small plastic bags when used as packaging.

The FDA said that, for him to do so, he would need to paint the popcorn black so that people would know not to eat it. I don't think the FDA considered that people might think it was licorice flavored popcorn, much like brown popcorn is caramel flavored. Nevertheless, the cost of painting the popcorn made the idea too expensive.
