How are prices in your area?
« on: May 08, 2013, 12:18:12 PM »
Just wondering if anyone is seeing gun/ammo/mag prices dropping in their area? Here in Seattle we weren't as badly hit in terms of stores being sold out, and prices are still stupid ($900 for a WASR) but not as bad as it was at the height ($1200 for a WASR).

Edit: a quick survey of online vendors shows some improvement but not much. SGAmmo has 1k cases of x39, but it's crappy Tula Ammo for more than I paid for my Golden Tiger including shipping. AIM has AK mags, but they're Circle 11, no idea if they're good quality or how they compare to the gold standard Circle 10's. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MAK47PS

My LGS has a good supply of guns, at normal prices, but not much ammo so far.

When I go to the stores I'm still seeing $900-$1000 WASRs.  I notice the firearm prices are starting to drop in the classifieds on main local gun forum.

Ammo is still impossible to find.  I'm kicking myself for not stocking more .22lr.

Haven't looked much.  At the Glen Ellyn Wal-mart, the shelves were bare except for 7MM Mag and other hunting rounds.  No handgun, no 22LR, no "military" calibers.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Ammo availability is worse than ever. A couple of months ago, I could depend on seeing dozens of boxes of .45 Auto every Tuesday night, at Cabela's. They would eventually sell out, but they would be restocked the following Tuesday, or maybe next week. And that's just for FMJ. Hollowpoints were everywhere, at least in .45.

Now, both Cabela's and Walmart have rearranged their shelves to cover up the empty spaces where their pistol ammo used to be. Unless maybe you shoot 10mm, or 45 Colt. Can't even find hollowpoint for the other stuff.

I haven't seen a single box of 22LR for sale, that wasn't snakeshot. Not since December.

I"m in mid-Ohio.  Ammo supplies are scarce, especially in the most popular calibers.  Surprisingly, shotgun ammo is pretty abundant.  Forget .22.  Gun prices remain about the same for most handguns, shotguns, and "normal" rifles.  EBR's are still a little high, but getting better.  Magazines are dificult to find, except some of the major types (AR, AK, 1911).  I've got a Sig 239 in .40 I'd like a few mags for, and the guys at the stores laugh when I ask...

My local Gander (which was recently remodeled into 95% gun store) has lots of EBRs, pistols, and 556 ammo. Gets regular shipments of 22, 9 and 45, but consistently sold out the morning of restock. Prices seem to be not much changed compared to pre-panic. Maybe 10-15% higher on some pistols that I noticed.

My fav LGS across the river has 762x39, both fmj and jhp. Being a sole proprietor they have always had a fairly limited selection, but they do have some EBRs (mostly 22 though). I can't remember the 762x39 prices, I don't remember it being outrageous. I bought some.

My second fav LGS has ak and ar mags in multiple manufacturers. They also have EBRs in full calibers. I picked up a box of 500rnds of Remington 22 from them. Got lucky one morning. Way over paid ($60), but what am I gonna do? Wait till next year to go plinking? The AK mags are $15-$20 per.

Bass Pro has no interesting ammo or pistols (sold out), has a few rifles, but is the local best for getting reloading equipment. Bullet puller was $20.
