"Simulated" Crime Demo Nearly Goes Awry

Last month, we were discussing a "simulated" school shooting in Oregon that could have had tragic consequences in this thread:

Well, it seems that Detroit PD is also populated by idiots - they decided to stage a fake "purse snatching" at a gas station, and have a film crew in tow to see how witnesses  reacted.

It turns out this gas station is frequently used by FBI agents to fuel their cars . . . and one agent was there, unaware of the Detroit PD's scenario; their showboating theatrics almost got someone killed as the agent started to intervene.

First off, I'm glad no one was hurt.

Secondly, this was, to me, a very surprising statement coming from an urban police representative:

I was pleased by that statement too, Ben.

Although in the case of Detroit, I think it's a police department that is in a city that's a hair's width away from being unincorporated and disbanded.  They've probably had long talks in the bar after shift is over, about what would happen to Detroit if NO police were there at all.
