Phone question
« on: June 20, 2013, 12:54:13 AM »
I'm about to upgrade to a new phone. Once I've switched over to the new one, will the old one still be able to connect to WiFi?

The old phone is a DROID X, currently on Verizon.

My best understanding of this is "yes."

All you lose is the telephone network.

Yes.

It's a mini-android tablet.

And it should still call 911 too.
I promise not to duck.

Yep. Been using my old Evo that way since I went to the darkside, still apps I can only get on Android.

Yup even "deactivated" cell phones can call 911. Which is why I told my wife not to give the 6 year old her old phone to play games on. She didn't listen to me.

Wife thought the kid was "pretending" to talk on the phone. Only when he came through with it on speaker we found out he wasn't pretending. 911 operator said there had been 14 calls.

Why don't you call the NSA and find out.  I'm sure they'll still be able to monitor it.

Yep any old cell phone old or new will dial 911.
Which is why that program to give cell phones to lower income people is a load of horse pucks.
The argument to continue the scam was to ensure they would have access to emergency services.

I'm dumping my cell provider Tmob after this latest no contract change they made.
I plan to use my google voice# and skype or similar services solely.
