Laptop fan replacement

Anyone ever replace a fan in a laptop?
I have a lenovo t500 thats sounding like crap.
Also where to procure one from. I've seen them from 25-200 dollars.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Can't say for your particular computer, never deal with one.

But I always like newegg.com and tigerdirect.com

Replaced a fan recently in a Lenovo 410. Basically had to remove every screw to get to.

Sometimes you can buy the parts from IBM/Lenovo, sometimes via a seller on Amazon. Lenovo's website has nice directions for removal. The weak point of some of the Lenovo models were the fans.

Have you tried to blow it out with compressed air? Remove the keyboard the blow the fan out from the inside.

There's a lot of screws on the bottom of those things, and they are different lengths. When I had mine apart a few years ago, I made a cardboard template of the bottom, and as I took a screw out, I stuck in the corresponding place in the cardboard. It saved a lot of headache when putting in back together. Just a thought.

Now its just consistently noisy instead of the on and off death throws type noise it was making.
