The homeowner shot the guy after 4 hours? Was he holding them hostage and it took that long for the homeowner to finally gain access to a weapon without being shot himself? The article isn't too clear on what happened.

They gave up trying to lure him outside, decided they'd have to go ahead and make a mess inside.  =)
