My mother is one of those. She tries to california-ize her town.

She raised hell with her town because "OMG, SOMEONE SHOT A DEER WITH A BOW ON THEIR ACREAGE!"

People she complained to were like ".... uhm.... so?"

She couldn't fathom that people could actually KILL and EAT an animal on THEIR LAND.

Yeah, I don't plan to be in Missoula forever.

This weekend I was talking to a guy from CA doing a cross county motorcycle trip who happened to be camping right near my cabin.  He asked where I was from.  Then he said, "Oh yeah, Missoula.  I love how progressive that place is.  The wife and I want to retire there."  It was hard to be civil after that.

" I heard cali was REALLY progressive, why would you EVER want to leave?"

Californian recites long list of woes.

"Hmm, must have been all the evil conservatives that have been dominating Californian politics for years, eh?"
 Californian mutters to self.

The hard part is getting past their cognitive dissonance ala Orwell and Bezmanov and showing them it was their own ideas that screwed up the place they now want to leave- it is a damned hard thing to do, because most leftists have a very hard time putting two and two together.

Illustration- most of them think Obama's idea to further subsidize the cost of a college education is a great way to reduce the students cost. -They simply can't fathom that the cost will rise in direct correlation with the extra "free money" available.  If they could see this simple fact, they could then see that Government interference is the REASON so many things, like medical care, cost so much.

I feel like I would like Montana. Lots of places to be... away from people.

Well, we are not guarding our borders very closely - yet   ;)

You just have to make a decision.  Hardest part is making a living here.

You gonna leave Stetson to twist ??
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Haha.

Maybe

I'd like to stay with my current company but there are some issues. Essentially , one of the dahlgren positions is going away. I either need to find a position for my subordinate, or find something for myself and promote him

I would just like to point out that these job titles blow chunks...  One in Missoula is help desk.  Havre is not really help desk, we have several large clients in that town that need onsite help.  The other job or jobs in Missoula are for a network engineer and a tier 2 small projects/backup help desk person.
