Students, gather round: Sensei Putin has wisdom

The crown jewel:

Quote
It is alarming that military intervention in internal conflicts in foreign countries has become commonplace for the United States. Is it in America’s long-term interest? I doubt it. Millions around the world increasingly see America not as a model of democracy but as relying solely on brute force, cobbling coalitions together under the slogan “you’re either with us or against us.”

Strikes to the heart of the matter like a Poli-sci course taught by Chuck Norris.

However, this being poli-sci kung fu:

Quote
My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Judo-chop!

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."
--Lysander Spooner

I wonder if we could get Putin on the R ticket next time. I bet he could come up with a US birth certificate Certificate of live birth at least as authentic looking as Obama's

Pfft.

He'd have a legit birth certificate, pictures from little league, and classmates from Columbia that actually remember him.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

Putin is a hard-line statist, criminal politician, that believes in having total control, near king-like authority and thinks he can do anything he wants in office....

Sort of like Clinton, Bush, and Obama.

Wow. Mr. Putin truly understands the fools who run our country. Every one of those statements was calculated to needle Obama, knowing EXACTLY how much he hates both Bush and this country.

Statement 1: "You're just like President Bush, Mr. Obama."

Statement 2: "You have previously claimed America isn't exceptional. Now you are saying that America is exceptional, so I'm going to throw your previous reasoning right back in your face."

His entire article is laced with these backhanded jabs at President Obama, personally. Appeals to the United Nations, appeals to "International Law". I'm also impressed by how well he interweaves the truth with deceptions- for example, his pointing out that Syria is not about a struggle for democracy but about who will rule the country (Truth) and then his claim that Russia is only interested in International Law in it's actions over Syria (falsehood).

This man understands international politics, playing to his audience and his opponents' weaknesses (in this case, not only is he attacking Obama's ego, he's attacking the liberals vision of themselves as champions of "internationality" and their disdain of "patriotism".)

A terrible person and a truly formidable opponent. It's a shame our country put someone with absolutely no experience and a faulty worldview up against this master. I can only thank God that we sit upon the accumulated power of the great work of this country that also crippled the power of his country. Were he in a position to contest our military power, we (and most of the world) would lose.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Putin is all those things, but he is making Obama look like the lightweight that he is.  That makes me smile some, but no, I don't want him as my President.  It is just a symptom of Republicans who just want a candidate that is proud of who they are and says what they think and are not afraid of the media talking bad about them or accusing them of being a racist.

Of course, if they did say what they think, at some point they would say something that was not 100% in line with libertarian perfection and be accused of being a statist.

You want to know the scariest thing about all of this? It works:

Quote
"We are now at Vladimir Putin’s mercy.."

Only idiot right wingers think this. The president got exactly what he wanted out of Putin, and in return Putin gets to seem like a reasonable man for the first time in his life. I'm sure he's glad to have you as a fan Calamity Jen, you are a match made in heaven.

From the comments at a Washington Post article about this foreign policy debacle.

The liberals think that, because Putin is saying the exact things they want to hear, they won. I'm blown away by his manipulation. He knows liberals don't care about results or even actions. Saying the right thing satisfies them.

Truly, I am impressed. I just wish I did not have to suffer under these fools he's playing.

I'm almost getting a grin out of watching Obama fumble and humiliate himself.  :P

Too bad he can't see Russia from the White House.

I've been seeing this all over the MSM, especially places like MSNBC. I cannot believe how many people are getting behind the "Obama brilliantly masterminded all this" spiel. These people are voters.

As for Putin, no, I don't like his political philosophy, but I have to respect the guy, especially as a world leader, for unapologetically saying what he means, without having to have a group meeting to discuss feelings and make sure everyone's diversity is addressed. It is something to be respected in both a friend and a foe Sadly, Putin is acting like an American President and leader of the free world, and Obama is acting like the leader of Lichtenstein, having planning discussions on the annual royal ball and wine tasting event.

Putin is an admirer of Stalin and thinks it was a world-wide catastrophe when the U.S.S.R. collapsed.  I would keep that in mind when considering what "great gems" of wisdom exit his mouth.

Full disclosure: I secretly admire Stalin too.  He killed more communists than anyone else managed to. >:D

I don't think Putin is more evil than Obama. I just think he's better at it.

I don't think anyone here is rallying around the Putin flag. I have no doubt that he has put a lot of innocent people into dark holes during his military and political career. What I, at least, am saying is that he is, for an incident where strength and decisiveness are needed, demonstrating those qualities while our president wants to hold focus groups.
