The parent apparently posted a copy of her CCW permit on Facebook (If I had to guess, she probably just got it and wanted to show it). While I wouldn't advertise my permits publicly beyond places like APS, I don't really see anything out of the ordinary about what this lady did. It's no different to me than someone posting a picture of their new car, or vacuum cleaner, or gun, or laptop,  or any other perfectly acceptable possession someone might be excited about. I'll be interested to see where this goes legally.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Public schools really need to figure out that they work for the people, and that those schools belong to us.

Of course, I know, it's the people that need to figure that out. The bad apples in govt education are committed to the other point of view.

OMG!! School is so wrong! Bad! Bad!

Yeah, so I was all set on the outrage, but then I noticed the name of the elementry school.

McBean Elementry.

Too bad a school with such a great name has such a crappy principle.

So . . . proof that a person is complying with the law and can pass a criminal background check is grounds for banning them from a school?

The first line of my .sig is proven true once again.

'Daughter has since been transferred from the school.'

Good move.  When the administration shows themselves to be that incompetent; the addition of a few miles for an alternative option is a darn good idea.

I would try and get a free legal service group to pick up the cause and cover the additional commute.  As wide as the deference given to schools happens to be; I'd hate to be the one defending the principal's actions.  I also do wonder if the police officer that took that call made any attempt to talk the principal down.

Tax attorney question - is the additional mileage, depreciation, maintenance and other expense incurred deductable?

Better yet, is the school district responsible for transporting the kid to the new school?  If so, will they screw up by putting her on her old bus and taking her to the new school after making the run to her old school?  Why do I ask?  Because many parents of kids receiving special education services have sucessfully fought against their kid having a significantly longer ride than kids not receiving special education.  Wondering if it might extend to a case like this.

stay safe.
