His defense is that he wasn't saying he objected to inter racial marriage, he's just saying those filthy evil tea baggers do. It's amazing he doesn't see the irony.

"I don't think everybody in the Tea Party is like that, because I know there are blacks in the Tea Party," he said. "So they're not all racist, unless I'm going to start doing mind reading about why those black people are there."

So he's making assumptions about people he's never met or talked with and how they think about a certain issue.

I believe the term we're looking for here is "projection".

The word racist is truly hurtful," [Cohen] told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. "It's not who I am. It's not who I ever was. It's just not fair. It's just not right.

I don't think I need to comment on the above.

From twitter, paraphrased.

Next time a Democrat accuses you of racism just say "You spent decades electing a Klansman, stfu."

Reading a few of the comments, I have to wonder if these liberal commenters even know any conservatives.  If there is a mirror, it these liberals who are looking at it.

Many of them probably knew conservatives, but cut them out of their life the moment they discovered that they are evil, evil people. (i.e. conservatives)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Yep, they sound like they are writing about folks who were described to them in vague terms by an hostile source.

Which is probably very accurate.  To be fair, I've read cons that seem to have the same lack of experience with libs but go ahead and express deeply held personal beliefs as god-given truth . . .

Yeah, you can look at some posters on sites like www.lucianne.com to see that wholy one-sided view, but I think I see that shallow no-facts-allowed discussion style more with lefties than people on the right.
