I have a big (Super Reverb) Fender tube guitar amplifier. It developed a problem which most guys on a guitar forum think is the filter capacitors. I'm going to replace them, as the cost is only $20 for the five of them, versus a couple hundred at least for a tech.
Anywho, there's what looks to be clear silicone caulk between the capacitors now. I've never seen that. Does anyone have any experience with doing that? What's the purpose? Is it a special caulk, or just plain clear silicone caulk?
