It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Panama Papers?
“Fear of death increases in exact proportion to increase in wealth,” Hemingway once said. Today, many of us have become rich in the currency of cowardice. We have so many things and so few experiences. We are desperate to live as long as possible, not as large as possible. We are so afraid to say goodbye to the world that we never say hello.

Either corruption or adultery.  Those are the two most common reasons for public figures to hop under a bus.

Maybe he doesn't agree with Cuomo regarding the draconian gun laws and actually had a conscience in that regard.  It would be refreshing to see a higher level bureaucrat resign due to being a believer in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness rather than the heavy handed administrative state.

27 years in the NYPD? I'm sure he never met an anti-gun law he didn't like.

Interesting that after leaving the NYPD he oversaw cleaning up the NYSP, then as head of the NYSP he had a ticket fixed for an NYPD officer.

As if we needed more proof that some people are more equal than others ...

I wonder what the rank and file in the NYPD think about draconian gun laws.  Here in Michigan there is overwhelming support for the 2A, concealed carry, open carry etc. among rank and file LE.   It's only the politically appointed LE bosses who tend to be anti's if their elected bosses are anti's.

Back in 08 I deployed with two NYPD officers. (Fellow Reservists) They were 100% behind not letting "Civilians" have guns.  They though NYC's laws were a model of how gun laws should work, and were genuinely surprised that the rest of our unit (Mostly from AL, GA, and FL) considered those laws repugnant and a failure.  Only two data points, but I don't hang out with NYPD officers that much.

As a side note, that deployment saw a bunch of us shopping for and buying guns right as we got back (something about 2008 caused that a lot. >:D)  As one of the"Gun Guys" I was often asked for advice.  The MSG/NYPD officer was very offended when I refused to help him shop for, or explain the differences between models of, AR-15's.  I told him I couldn't help him own a weapon he was responsible for denying to the people he served.  He got seriously angry.

^^^^^^Interesting.  I also salute your choice to not help the guy.  You reap as you sow at times, sez I. :old:

This warms my balls.

Although also anecdotally, I've seen plenty of NYC cops on gun forums etc. who are 100% pro RKBA.
I promise not to duck.

Very anecdotally, I think. The population of the NYPD is larger than the population of many small cities, and the vast majority of the officers don't support an individual RKBA.

Quote from: Wikipedia
The NYPD's current authorized uniformed strength is 34,450.[6] There are also approximately 4,500 Auxiliary Police Officers, 5,000 School Safety Agents, 2,300 Traffic Enforcement Agents, and 370 Traffic Enforcement Supervisors currently employed by the department.

That doesn't count civilian employees (clerical, etc.)
