Why do the mirrors have to be on the  pillars?  Any way of suspending them out of reach?
WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

How about getting to the essentials? Who pays? Your employer does, right? - hire someone to do it- Use the SS straps- and stay off ladders as much as you can.  I know lots of people who have been hurt falling off ladders. Lots of young healthy guys, gravity does not give a damn.

Yeah, gravity sucks!
Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will... The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. ― Frederick Douglass

I'll second (or fifth, I lost track) the motion on industural strength adhesives and bands/straps.  The idea of drilling into structural concrete gives me the willies.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Hold fast by the river.

What about one of those explosive bolt systems that use a cartridge to sink an anchor in?

Other than that, I'll agree with glue/adhesive.  They're a lot better than they used to be, used properly.

I hate it when you are home improving, drilling in what is supposed to be a brick wall, until you hit a rattle-tattle bone shaking structure.. damn, should have looked at the plans first.

I wouldn't worry about a limited number of fairly small holes drilled into the pillars from a structural standpoint. I would just think it's an unnecessary PITA, particularly when you don't have the equipment to do it properly.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

Until you hit rebar,  3" holes.

Had a buddy catch a piece of rebar with his hole hawg and break his wrist.
