Where is the line between snarky verbal sniping and trolling?
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

I guess the "lightweight sadism" referred to is part of the infantile idea that whatever is bad for you is good for me.

Also part and parcel of the chest-thumping that goes on when I get a bigger and badder Dodge Ram than Mr. Smith next door has.

That latter is not necessarily a bad thing, for without competition, we'd still be digging for grubs and stripping berries off shrubs.

And running from saber-toothed tigers.
WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

Hmmmm ...

Quote
“We use the term ‘everyday sadist’ to emphasize that we are referring to sub-clinical levels of sadism, and not the more extreme forms that are seen in serial killers and criminals,” said psychologist Erin Buckels of the University of Manitoba and the first of three authors of the paper on troll personality in the February issue of the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

“The essential aspect of sadism,” Buckels said in an email, “is enjoyment of cruelty. Persons high in sadism gain some emotional benefit from causing or simply observing others’ suffering.”

So if "everyday" sadism is "sub-clinical," why are you studying it ... clinically?

First of all: "e-bile"

Really? Do we need yet another craptastic catchphrase flaoting around among the internet nannys.

second "Everyday Sadist"? Because we must have a fancy term for the fact that some people are just mean, rude little snots? Why can't we say they are just mean, rude little snots and leave it at that.

So, basically it's an entire study to state the obvious and to create new, fancy pants labels for *expletive deleted*it we already have perfectly good words for. I particualrly rolled my eyes at the whole misogony thing. What a "no *expletive deleted*it, sherlock" moment.
Don't these people have better things to do?

Who's that trip-trapping on my network bridge?   >:D
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

I like to think of myself as the "Dexter" of trolls.

Only for bad people who deserve it.  =D

This is what happens when people who don't know anything about the internet try to write research papers on it. Morons.
