I was recently think about the Firefly series.  There is hardly an episode without a memorable quote.  One my favorites comes after the sword fight.

Harrow: "You have to finish it, lad. You have to finish it. For a man to lay beaten... and yet breathing? It makes him a coward."

Inara: "It's humiliation."

Mal: "Sure. It would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man. (lightly stabs Atherton with the sword) Guess I'm just a good man. (stabs him again) Well, I'm all right."
Admit nothing, deny everything, make counter-accusations - APS homepage 3/4/05 - 5/20/05

Never ask a man where he is from. If he is from Texas he will tell you. If he isn't there's no need to embarass him.

Ya know, you could just buy the DVD set.  Then you wouldn't have to wait around for the gods of cabledom to air it for you.

Yup.  If you're patient, you can even get it new from Amazon for as little as $25.  It goes on sale every few months.

You could also get a brown duster and a bunch of guns, then go stick up Best Buy and steal it.

Bring some grenades.

Having seen every episode at least a dozen times each, I find some of the analyses that I come across to be interesting.  I read them and realize that there is more going on than I perceived.

This one is very good:

I just watched two episodes this afternoon, and now I realize why you guys like it so much.
A little different then the movie though.

But why would people many years in the future dress like cowboys so much?
I guess I have to watch from the begining to understand...it was really good.
The episode I watched with undivided attention was one where they were gonna burn a
crew member as a witch (the fighting girl from the movie) and they paraphrase Patton
"you can't save her, she's a witch"  "yeah but she's our witch"...good stuff
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".
Rocket Man: "The need for booster shots for the immunized has always been based on the science.  Political science, not medical science."

Because they can Cheesy

Mal wears his old army uniform mixed with civilian clothes.

A lotof the planets they deal with are fairly low-tech agrarian colonies.
