Fox body 460 conversion kit. 460 punched 0.030 over with a Scat 4.30 stroker crank and some FPP SCJ 2.0 (Kaase redesign) heads.  600 ft-lb torque. Close to 700 hp. And it all fits under the hood.  ;)

Brad

Well, I understood everything after "600 ft-lb torque" . . .

Back around 1992, some auto writers were prognosticating that the '92 Mustang convertible would become a collectible classic, as it was the last year of a popular body style and engine. I haven't seen a sign of that, though.

I'm seeing that. They're still cheap, but they seem to be more sought after and prices are rising. Lots of dudes buy the fox body mustangs and get retarded with them.

"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

My 89 GT convertible had a lightly modded 302 HO. I had ~310 HP under the hood, not 600hp but better than the 225 factory HP. I kind of miss that car, it was supposed to be a vette but the girl I was dating at the time said I wasn't old enough for a vette. This was back when I had a my own business and a *expletive deleted*it load of extra money.

I can see my current truck being a potential muscle sought after vehicle. I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier SC (factory supercharger)

The combo ends up at 521 cu in. Massive torque beginning just off idle, enough to carry the front end off the ground to half track. Even with a garden varitety 460, a basic rebuild, and a few well-chosen off the shelf parts, it's a beast of a combo that will quickly have you on Discount Tire's preferred customer list.  Or in jail.

The Fox platform is also shared with the lowly Granada. From the firewall forward it and the 'stang are identical under the sheetmetal.  Mustang 460 transplant kit will work, right down to the bolt holes.  Can you say "sleeper", boys and girls...?   >:D

There are two versions of the Granada.

The one most people think of is the '75 to '80 version thats based on the '60 Falcon. Which means it uses the same chassis architecture as the First-gen Mustang.

The Granada name was placed on a Fox platform car for '81 and '82, eventually morphing into the "little" LTD for '83.

I think their Granada was the 70s version.

Oddly enough, my parent had the "little" LTD, might have been an 83 model.

Super sleeper Okie farm truck (well, sleeper except for the huge slicks and heard-you-from space exhaust crackle).  Note carefully the requisite motorcycle strapped in back, and truck topper ultra-aero flappy window thingy.

I past up buying a 71 or 72 Mustang for $200 30 years ago only because the rear shock mounts were busted off for some reason.  Listened to my dad.

I know, right?
On my Dad's advice, I passed on an even trade for a 69 Buick GS 430 that had a freshly rebuilt engine but some electrical problems. The guy wanted to trade for my rusty '76 olds. Probably worth a lot more than the $500 car I would have traded it for today, but that would have been 25 years of storing it which I couldn't have done.
