Stolen ARs in ChiTown
« on: May 10, 2014, 04:10:37 PM »
I am so glad to see fair and unbiased reporting on a theft of these evil weapons.  ;/

The highlights:

Quote
"We're hoping to recover them before they're … used in any type of crime,"

That's a valid concern, except who says they were stolen for use in a crime? 13 out of 50 stolen, sounds like some RR employees wanted some new ARs.

The popular semi-automatic rifle comes equipped with a 30-round magazine designed to fire 5.56mm ammunition, commonly referred to as “NATO rounds.”

And every one knows that NATO rounds are only used for killing people.

Quote
last September's shooting at Cornell Square Park in the Back of the Yards neighborhood that wounded 13 people.
The scene around the park's bloodied basketball court was littered with 7.62x39 shell casings, rounds consistent with witnesses' descriptions of a gunman wielding an AK-47 assault rifle.

Totally unrelated, a different gun, yet we can tie it in to this instance to help raise the fear level.

DBs.

The usual fear-mongering.  There is no such thing as a "semiautomatic assault rifle."

Interesting that only 13 were stolen out of 50.  Perhaps that was all they could carry.

If the thieves broke into just one container, that screams "inside job."  But I state the obvious.

i'd have to argue that this is a valid concern.   stealing is not done by law abiding citizens...........

unfortunatly this will now lead to more knee jerk legislation that will raise the price of shipping arms 10 fold.
make the world idiot proof.....and you will have a world full of idiots. -g2

Chicago's Englewood neighborhood . . . #68 on the included map below . . . 6100 S. Lafayette . . . no s'prize, dat be in de 'hood. Englewood had gotten bad when I still lived in Chicago, I suspect its only gotten worse now. (I grew up in zone 62 - West Elsdon. About the middle now in terms of property crime, it was better back then.)

I always dreaded when we would get containers that had come through the NS Landers yard.  Not a one that hadn't been broken into and boxes ripped open, with bags or clothes strewn everywhere.  The only thing we could do was sort through the mess, figure out what was missing/damaged and file a claim with the carrier.

I'm not surprised that they got stolen, nor by the horrible reporting.

This reminds me . . . when I was growing up, there was an urban legend that, decades ago, some suburban Chicago gun dealers learned how to work the system by shipping one another handguns - or maybe even scrap iron - via USPS at a time when the packages  were supposed to be labeled "FIREARM" in 1" red letters. ("Steal Me" would have been equally effective as a label.) Heavily overinsured, an awful lot supposedly disappeared after entering Chicago's main post office. Insurance claims were promptly paid, as the USPS didn't want to admit there was a problem with their employees pilfering the mail. Profit!
