Apparently I needed it pretty badly!  10 45 gallon bags full of dead grass.

What's a power rake?  I want a power rake . . .

Also known as "thatching".

My yard is seriously overdue.  =D

I haven't done it in the 14 years I've owned the house. Save for the fenced back yard, but that's only because I'm raking up the dog's snow-compressed leavings that are exposed after the first thaw.  :P
I promise not to duck.

Ah the joys of thatch.

A little (less than 1/2 inch or so) is actually good for your lawn and especially if you have kiddies running around on it or whatever adds a little padding. Course then you get into excessive amounts, particularly if you have a soil and/or grass type prone to it. And then....you get a lot of raking to do when you eventually get around to breaking it up  [popcorn]
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

Why I love living in the snow belt, under the snow the microbes and macrobes eat a lot of thatch during the winter months.
