I am sure many people will be along to explain how women are just wrong to have these opinions.

Not disagreeing, but women are much more likely to hold views that are liberal. The media is constantly repeating the Democrat refrain that the Republicans are conducting a war on women (even though it's really the Dem's who are doing that).

I think the Republicans should do a better job of communicating their message. I don't think policies should be changed to accommodate liberal positions.

Women have always been more inclined to vote for socialist policies. I myself posted a thread on that a while back.

All representative forms of government devolve into one group using the .gov to steal from another group and give it to them eventually. Female suffrage just seems to accelerate that somewhat.

Also be interesting to see the exact demographics. Young singles tend to be more liberal than married women iirc.

1. Shaping operations by the Dems and Dem operatives with bylines (AKA, the mainstream media) to gin up "war on women" bunkum.

2. Yes, women are more likely to want Uncle Sam to be their provider...provided they are not yet married

3. Actual at-the-polls "gender" gap is ~8pts, the marriage gap about 20pts
http://isteve.blogspot.com/2012/11/marriage-gap-around-20-points-or.html
http://isteve.blogspot.com/2012/11/gender-gap-8-points-but-marriage-gap-21.html
http://isteve.blogspot.com/2012/12/marriage-gap-one-more-time.html

Quote from: sarcasm
The marriage gap is always a low priority when news websites put up their exit polls. Everybody knows that's not an important gap, not like the colossal gender gap, so nobody pays attention to it, so next time, the marriage gap isn't give much play either, and so forth and so on forever and ever amen.

Quote
As more data is available from the exit polling, the extent of the marriage gap – the differences in candidate choice between married and unmarried women – becomes more obvious and undeniable. And as this chart make clear: the marriage gap transcends all racial, age, income, education and other distinctions. Young or old, rich or poor, white, black or Hispanic, unmarried women voted overwhelmingly in 2012 to reelect President Obama.

Gawk at the charts.  Marriage gap is HUGE and blows the "gender" gap out of the water by more than 2x.

BHO's campaign knew this which is why they produced that disgusting "Life of Julia" video, to appeal to single women.  For married women with/without kids, the gap exceeds 25pts, or over 3x the "gender" gap.

So, it is no wonder Dem policies always seek to maximize bastardy and thereby increase the number of single mothers.  The Dems must have hired folks who can read spreadsheets and do statistical analyses, while hte GOP hires Karl Rove and his cronies to run expensive teevee ads.

If you want lower taxes, more liberty, and less gov't heavy-handedness, the key is in the culture.
Reduce bastardy by any means necessary.  Yes, that means that the "socially liberal, economically conservative" types are a dead end.  Literally, for liberty and western civ, as such types are helping bring about the suicide of the west by driving down birthrates(1) of those who build & built western civ while at the same time subsidizing the birthrates of those who tear it down.  Dysgenic and dyscivic at the same time.  What a two-fer.

And the yucky socons with their paleolithic ethics and mores are key to enhanced liberty.  How horrifying and gauche.

Self discipline or externally imposed discipline will be the order of the day, since we are social critters.  SO, take your pick.

Why would women think much of the GOP?

I found it interesting that the poll found 49% of women viewed the Repubs unfavorably while 39% viewed the Democrats unfavorably.  In the big scheme of things, I wonder if a 10% difference is of major significance.

Also, the poll said that married women without a college degree view Republicans favorably.  I wonder if that changes if they have a college degree.

Why would women think much of the GOP?

Why would anyone?

I think a better question is, why would women think much of the DNC?

Doesn't the majority of people on APS "come along to tell people they are wrong" for supporting the DNC, regardless of gender?

Very true.

Which is why your implication in the OP is so silly.

And what message would that be?  Freedom and individual liberty and absence of governmental tyranny?  How 'bout Democrat lite.  Maybe the message is . . . . forget it.  Spinelessrepublicans have no message.  Its fecklessness is apparent to even the most dumbed down voter of either party.

GOP has a good message, they just never manage to actually follow it. I'm less worried about their message than their actions.

The pool of quality women isn't any larger than the pool of quality men.

Vacuous narcissists with no understanding of economics or political philosophy. Easily swayed by emotional appeals and free stuff.

Easy pickings for both parties depending on whose ox is getting gored.

Bottom line is we're screwed.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

This. It's easy to call it cynicism. Unfortunately, it's hard pressed to not see it as realism. This has been the case since the days of the Roman Republic.

I think you are being optimistic.
On the other side of the equation are the politicians. The types of people who have the correct personality sociopaths  to want to run for the office are the exact opposite of the types who you'd want to be in leadership positions.

I'm starting to think elections should be replaced by a lottery  ;)

Like jury duty? That would be awesome.
I want to see a 'house of repeals' as outlined in TMIAHM- its only purpose would be to repeal laws, a majority vote would be all that is required to take a law off the books.
