So Pennsylvanians are being drafted now?
« on: July 11, 2014, 11:44:13 AM »
"US sends military draft notices to men born in the 1800s"

I guess what surprised me the most was the fact the 120 year old data had been digitized.Interesting,I wonder how far back they go.

I've still got my original draft card from 1956.  Afraid to discard it, although I don't "keep it on my person" pursuant to the law back then.

It's not too surprising that  the old info has been digitized.  After all, wasn't there a fire in the military records section some time ago that destroyed many of the paper records of servicemen?   I wanted to pursue my father's records (somewhere between 1919-1939) and found that out, so maybe they just want to keep that from happening again.

When I was dealing with data like this, I didn't have to worry too much about birthdates, even though a very few of my numidents were born before 1900.  I just kept all four digits in the years anyhow.

WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

Nah, they probably just accidentally picked them up from the registered voters list.

Hell, we have a paperwork mine. No, I'm not kidding. There's a former underground mine in Boyers PA that the Office of Personnel Management uses to process retirement paperwork.

Outside of Philadelphia, that's not a major problem here.

"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

Sinkhole of Bureaucracy would be a great band name.

I wonder if Grandpa's discharge certificate from the Kaiser's army would earn him an exemption?
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,

Probably get him exhumed and deported under this adminstration.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
