I've still got my original draft card from 1956. Afraid to discard it, although I don't "keep it on my person" pursuant to the law back then.
It's not too surprising that the old info has been digitized. After all, wasn't there a fire in the military records section some time ago that destroyed many of the paper records of servicemen? I wanted to pursue my father's records (somewhere between 1919-1939) and found that out, so maybe they just want to keep that from happening again.
When I was dealing with data like this, I didn't have to worry too much about birthdates, even though a very few of my numidents were born before 1900. I just kept all four digits in the years anyhow.
