Moms demand action go against Kroger
« on: August 18, 2014, 10:25:10 AM »
http://online.wsj.com/articles/open-carry-fight-is-set-to-hit-kroger-1408313588

Behind a paywall, but the article describes how Moms Demand Action will be asking Kroger to ban open carry at all of their locations.  Kroger now owns the QFC and Fred Meyer stores in the PNW.

Was there an incident at a Kroger owned store, or are they just looking at them as a vulnerable target?

From the article, MDA is trying to build on their 'success' with Starbucks and Target, and Kroger is one of the largest retailers in the country.

So far I have not quit open carrying in the places that have asked people to do so, Starbucks and somewhere else. I can't remember the second because I always OC and if I happen to go in there, oh well. I have not been approached anywhere when I OC to be asked to cover up.

Kroger hasn't been seen around here for ages. I would never have pegged them as the largest grocery chain.

"Kroger" sounds like one of the characters from a Sam Raimi movie.

Kroger is based here in Cincinnati so it was not a stretch that they would say what they said.  The city is blue, but the rest of the county is red.

Fistful, Kroger is pretty big, just read the second page: http://ir.kroger.com/file.aspx?iid=4004136&fid=1500059782

My comment about the "Moms" planting a gun in the cereal aisle of a Kroger while they're protesting and passing out propaganda outside didn't last long at TFL.  But something like that already happened at a Target.

Wow, thanks for the Kroger's fact book, which I just spent twenty minutes going through.  I had no idea they were that big.  I only heard of them a few years ago, when they came into Seattle and Portland to buy up QFC and Fred Meyer, respectively.

MillCreek you are welcome.  They just bought the Harris Teeter chain this year (adding 200 more stores to their total) as well as Soft Coin (digital coupons) and Vitacost (online vitamin sales.)

I used to haul stuff to and from Krogers in Cinci. Not among my fondest memories. Actually, the from wasn't so bad.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
