Do you like Lovecraft? Do you like Arthur Conan Doyle?
« on: September 26, 2014, 05:15:53 PM »
Currently reading "Shadows Over Baker Street", an anthology of Sherlock Holmes stories in a Lovecraftian setting. Expect shoggoths, Elder Gods, tentacled nightmares and degenerate fishmen. Have read about a quarter of it so far, and I'm liking it.

When I read the title of this thread, I continued it to myself: "Do you like movies about gladiators?"

Not fishmen. But only because we turned them into lutfisk.

I like both authors, not mixed together.  Conan Doyle was just fine, and no upstart is going to improve on his work by mixing it with Lovecraft.

This mashup stuff is really taking off. Like that Jane Austen zombie book, and stuff. I'm going to do a Twilight reboot, as told by Ernest Hemingway.

Hienlien.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
