Tom Magliozzi of Car Talk has died

My wife grew up listening to Car Talk as a kid, and introduced me when we were dating. It's some of the best radio ever produced. Political disagreements with the show or NPR aside, it was a truly hilarious program.

Wow, loved to listen to them and read their column.  Sad day indeed. :'(
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Best radio NPR ever produced.

First time I had my wife listen, they played one of their funny songs, "You picked a fine tie to leave me loose wheel..."

I would usually listen when I had a house project going on on Sundays.

One of the local newspapers around here still runs the Car Talk column every Saturday. If Tom had Alzheimer's serious enough to kill him, I wonder who's writing the columns -- or if maybe those are also re-runs. I was very sorry when their show stopped being live -- at one point a woman I was dating called in and got on the air with a problem on her Subaru. I don't remember if they actually helped her -- they were so funny that nobody cared.

I started listening to them when I worked every Saturday morning back in 1989. These days I listen to the show as an iTunes download podcast. I've never been a car guy, but I learned a few things over the years and laughed a whole lot. Rest well ya knucklehead.

I used to listen to it (if available) when I was trucking. It was always entertaining and informative.

Damn. Use to listen to it and the other awesome programs in that time block, Prairie Home Companion and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, when I would drive to church in the mornings or drive to a gun show or any other time I happened to be out when it was on.

There will be a special live version of Car Talk this weekend commemorating Tom's passing.

Terry Gross interviews "Car Talk's" executive producer.  http://www.npr.org/2014/11/04/361408028/-we-have-learned-absolutely-nothing-tom-magliozzi-on-decades-of-car-talk

I wonder how many of the "Car Talk" staff they will be bringing back for the show.  How could anybody forget http://www.cartalk.com/content/staff-credits ?
