It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I think that was the guy who kept walking back and forth, and couldn't keep his mouth shut, at the open carry walk in St. Louis. If it was him, he certainly had a non-stop mouth on him, but he was considerably more restrained around those of us without badges.

I'd bet a whole lot of money that for every idiot hot-head like the one depicted in the linked story, there are hundreds of regular, level-headed folks involved in the protests.

Yes, those are the people I refer to as idiotic hot-heads.  And it's interesting to note that the "bad apple" theory only applies to police for some people . . . .

So when the folks at the protest meeting attacked that fool how does that play out in your scenario? The protest planners were all hotheads? Or the " level headed regular folks just watched?
Same with the looting?

More than likely the regular folks "just watched."  Similar to how the "good" cops "just watch" the bad apples.

There may have been plenty of level-headed protestors back in August. And they got a grand jury to take a very close look at the case. Heck, they got the AG of the U.S. on the case. That is all for which they can reasonably ask.

At this point, anyone still in the streets protesting is just a tool, and knows very well that they are contributing to the violence, looting, etc. Things may be much worse next week, or whenever the grand jury decision is finally made official.

I don't think it's going to be all that bad. That being said, this thing has attracted trouble-makers from all over, who may have planned all sorts of mischief. It's entirely possible we could have explosions, assassinations, random assaults and murders, or just more of the same looting and arson. A lot more.

So I'm going to keep the vehicles gassed up, and I've got some ammo. The wife drives way out west to work, so I think she'll be OK. We'll have to see what develops. I don't think we'll get to the point of going and staying with my parents, in the sticks. But we have that option.

CNN is reporting a spike in firearm sales in the Ferguson area:

On Monday, Steven King, who owns Metro Shooting Supplies told CNN that customers bought 100 guns this weekend. A typical weekend brings in about 30 buyers.

"People are afraid they are gonna throw Molotov cocktails," says King, referring to the mostly nonviolent protests that have taken place in Ferguson since the shooting.

The increase in gun sales reaches across racial and ethnic lines, he says.

"A lot of black people coming in saying they are afraid of the hooliganism," he says.

The range was very crowded last Saturday. Then again, it usually is, and I think it's about time for deer season.
