AR-15 is truely "America's gun"

Working backwards - they have survellience tape of this but the guy is on the loose?   Nothing like locking the barn after the horse gets out.

As a positive note - our young subject had the smarts to grab 150 rounds of ammo to go with it.  Now all he will need is a magazine to put them in.  (Wonder how long it takes him to figure that one out?  [tinfoil] )

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

I thought someone monitored those cameras.  I guess they don't all the time.  What other stores selling guns leave them unattended?

Most of them?  Seriously, you have to have a dude employed just to watch cameras for them to do any good 'live'.  'Most' gun stores aren't that big.

Take a guess how many cameras a typical Wal-Mart has. Don't forget the ones on the roof and light poles, watching the parking lot.

Every gun store and sporting goods store I can think of has a person at the gun counter at all times.  Except Walmart.  Of course, Walmart is the only one I can think of that is open 24 hours.

At the gun counter is different than watching cameras.  You can't effectively do both.

I didn't see earlier that it was at a Walmart, which might have somebody watching the cameras - but ALL of the cameras.  Dozens of them.

From what I've been told (by someone who works in loss prevention at Wal Mart), the primary purpose of their security cameras is to catch employees stealing.  Past that, it gives them a record of what happened.  Neither of those purposes requires having someone actually watching the cameras at any given time.

Okay.  Do y'all know of any other stores who leave the gun displays unattended when open?  I can't think of any, but there are probably others.

Depends on your definition of 'unattended' and 'open'.  There's a hardware store near me that has longer hours than the gun counter within it, but in order to obtain a weapon during the hours the counter is closed you're going to have to break stuff because the guns are all locked up.

Same with the walmart - the guy had to break the case, and is going to have to use more tools when he gets home to take off the trigger lock.

Somebody looking to steal guns from a closed walmart that's willing to break the devices holding the guns to the their positions isn't going to have trouble with the door of most stores.
