Same to you Charby, and to all of APS! I hope everyone has a pleasant and relaxing time.

Or at least do the best you can with the collision of relatives and Christmas dinner.  =D

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Bah, Humbug.  I'm at work.

Seriously had a great morning with the family, and went and saw Unbroken.  Great movie, bring tissue.

Now, though, I'm at work.  Doubletime FTW

Butbutbut I thought only the overburdened, horrifically treated workers of the evil bourgeois robber baron corporations like Wal-Mart had to work on Christmas?

Had an interesting start.

Turns out someone forgot to mention to me that the Creatures "family" did have plans for Christmas brunch at Boar's Head.
I had already told Dad last night, since there appeared to be no plans, I would go to Richmond with him.
Poor Katie was notified when she realized I hadn't known and sent me home in a rush to change for brunch. I thought I could do both, but that was impossible and Dad was a little upset that I was going to skip (again, I haven't done Christmas in Richmond in years). So, I called Katie and changed back into non fancy clothes and Dad and I headed off.

I'm glad I did. Every time I spend time with them, it reminds me just how lucky I am and how much I really do have to be thankful for. Forget horror stories and family drama and infighting. My mother's family just doesn't do those things. Not that they don't occasionally have spats within the family, but it's like some unspoken law that thou shall not bring it up at family gatherings.
At family gatherings, we sit and talk and enjoy each others company. Christmas is a time to be outrageous and laugh your ass off (and we all have lots of ass to laugh off!)

Plus, there were ham biscuits with REAL ham, and bourbon balls (with REAL bourbon) and cheese balls. It may not have been country club dinner, but I ain't complaining!

Had another one of those Christmases where I'm sick the whole time. Not as bad as last time, though.

You are a good daughter. What you do means a lot to a dad and someday if you ever look back at things you wish you hadn't done this won't be on the list
