Yup. It totally sucks, but along with training to defend your home, and having a firearms specialty attorney on speed dial, it seems you also have to plan an exit strategy to disappear into small town America and lay low.

It's past time for the men of that community to nut up,  go hunting,  and solve whatever "youth" issues they have.

I may not agree with you on the level of intervention, but I do agree that making it less attractive to engage in retaliation would go far towards reducing/eliminating the behavior in the first place.

I think we all know that if a community actually did that, the police would turn out in full force to stop it, and there'd be no handwringing or Political Correctness or restraint, because the demographic that would be doing it is not of a protected class that must be treated with kid gloves.

Best we could probably manage would be a network of like-minded volunteer people running 24/7 armed watch on the property and reacting defensively if anything happened. And hopefully the low-life/ghetto attitudes of those who might want revenge would age them out of the system through prison, death, etc. and the odds of them moving on or forgetting are sufficiently high.

That the angry party could only manage a drive by with a shotgun is hopefully a good sign, that it's the best they can do.

Fortunately, my ancestors did this about 5 generations ago.  Worst case, I go five miles to mom's house on 130 acres, surrounded by heavily armed cousins and long-time family friends with similar sized properties.  Anyone heading up the driveway is likely to be discreetly kept in the sights of something nasty until they're identified.

That's the problem with gang trouble. I mentioned that once to a cop. You can't kill enough of em fast enough. If you have a family you need to be able to hide em out. The only alternative is to treat every gang encounter extremely severely. And there is no fair equitable way to do that.

I was unaware that pro-RKBA, friends etc. were doing that for Zimmerman-

Oh, you mean Zimmerman himself, vs. Travon Martin.   Even if Martin was on top of Zimmerman and head pounding him into the street when he got shot, even if it was ultimately a witch-hunt for  appeasement of the newly minted Dindu'Nuffin/SJW crowd, that it wasn't a 100% defensive confrontation on Martin's own property (at least initially) is what was used to string him up in the "beat the rap, not the ride" punishment he got.

Not really sure what you're getting at there.  Let me try the even shorter, even simpler version of what I apparently miscommunicated:

Trying to be a good citizen and keep an eye out for his neighbors and their property got him prosecuted and persecuted for his trouble because of the right is wrong, lies are truth, and feelz not realz mentality of the huge squeaky wheel that rules the ones who would rule us.
