LED shop lights

Anyone have a good suggestion for LED shop lights for my basement man cave?  I have one ceiling mounted electrical box (I assume a 15a circuit) in the center of the 13'x15' room.

I like the look and specs of this Big ass Light http://www.bigasslight.com/products/shop-led/ , but at $400 it is just not worth it.

Is it exposed joists?

I'd just hang whatever cheap recessed can fixtures were handy, and stick standard A19/E26-sized LED bulbs, maybe directional floods, in them.

The LED game is changing so quickly I'd be loath to invest any big bucks right now, but would still want the electrical savings.

They also sell T-8 fluorescent tube shaped compatible LED's that will fit in a regular fluorescent fixture, or those cheap chain-hanging shop fixtures.
I promise not to duck.

and a bunch of fluorescent paint.

As big a fan as I am of LED, for shop lights that'll only be used occasionally I'd go with cheapo fluorescents right now. For the price of a single LED fixture you can get several naked flourescent fixtures and the intermittant use won't show any appreciable difference in energy use. Get something with electronic ballasts and call it good. You can always upgrade later.

Or you could do like my neighbor and buy a bunch of the cheap clamp-on aluminum work lamps. He mounted a dollar store power strip to a 2x4, clamped six housings to it, and screwed in 60w-equivalent Cree lamps. It's slung from his shop rafters by a couple strands of scrap cable. Works amazingly well.

I have a couple of these that I bought at Home Depot.  They put out a very high-quality light and the 50,000 hour life is attractive if even remotely accurate.

When I had my shop built in January 1999 I put in plain old fluorescent shop lights. Still going but they are a little cantankerous when it's cold.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

Have to agree that it would likely be a lot more logical and cost effective to go with cheap fluorescents.

A few weeks ago I decided to finally put undercabinet lighting in my kitchen. I looked seriously at LEDs, but in the end went with GE linkable fluorescents.

The three fluorescent fixtures cost me about $90, but to have the same level of light with LEDs would have been over $200. It simply wasn't cost effective for lights that are only going to be on, at most, an hour or so a day.

I put a few of these in a race trailer for a friend.

They are pretty bright. He picked them up at the supply house. I think they were around a hundred bucks there.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Home Despot has a few four foot LED shop lights in their Commercial Electric brand for $30 to $40, depending on model.

Here's the $40 model that looks most like a fluorescent shop fixture.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Grow lights

In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.
