I recommend stocking 2 types of TP - the cheap single-ply to get the suckers and doomed-to-die, and the quilted super-soft type that will get fecund women to leave their mates and join your compound/harem.

Moved to Politics. I wasn't sure if this topic would be humor or politics, so I started it in RT, but it's probably becoming politics, or at least political humor (unless you're a citizen of Venezuela, then it's not all that funny).

They're having maintenance problems at several of their refineries.
Strict currency controls are limiting the ability to order foreign products.
Their domestic manufacturing has plummeted due to the nationalizations and price controls.

In response to the shortages caused by nationalization, currency controls and price controls, they're nationalizing more businesses.

Oil companies aren't always fluffy buddies of goodness and purity. In this case, yep, they're the good guys and Venezuela are thieving socialist scum. That said, oil companies indeed went Wyatt as Viking said. And now the socialist government can't keep their refineries running, which is very bad as their entire economy is dependent on oil. They'd have already crashed and burned otherwise.

So sorry my commentary was not as obvious as I thought it might be.  This was something folks should have seen coming from a long way off, along with all the rest of the FAIL happening there.  As far as I'm concerned  the only "news" about the situation is the date when it happened.

I'm by no means a prepper fanatic but do have a fair sense of which direction the wind is shifting towards, as opposed to needing to watch the 6 o'clock news to be told by the weatherperson which direction it is now blowing from.  The same for the winds of economics and politics.  I have little sympathy for folks who do not put their ducks in a row  however that phrase may apply to their personal situation.

Thus, the "I told you so" that did not come across very well.
