The suction left by the Galactica-shaped vaccuum in the air as it FTL'ed out was pretty cool.
Lots of physical inconsistencies with the size of the Galactica, it's velocity, the "re-entry fire" and the launching of Vipers under that circumstance, but it was still hella-cool&
IMO they can get away with it, because they don't usualy over-do techie solultions like in Star Trek or even the Stargate franchise. When you don't over-explain yourself, you can't get as hung up on breaking your own conventions.
With all these shots of Raptors and even the Galactica itself FTL'ing into atmosphere, one could start arguing about inconsistencies in the FTL technology from episode to episode, but instead they, to paraphrase Nike, "just do it".
The only inconsistency to date that bugs me is in the first season when Hilo and Boomer were hiding out in that well-stocked diner on Caprica and the Centurians find them, Hilo's sidearm blows the crap out of them. However, in the later episode when Centurions board the Galactica from the crashed heavy raider in the inactive museum launch pod, they can only be destroyed by the "explosive bullets" from the single shot underbarrel launcher on that same sidearm.
But again, tight story, good acting, excelent drama, who cares?
