(Actually, yesterday. I missed it by a few minutes, or an hour, depending on your time zone.)

In case you didn't know, he was a critic of the Nazi regime; and if memory serves, he returned to Germany from abroad, out of a sense of obligation to help save his country. He was hanged by the regime, just a few days before the prison was liberated.
