Score 1 for the video cameras, thieves at the Tulsa gun show
« on: April 14, 2015, 12:27:18 AM »
Long time vendors stealing some pretty spendy guns at the show.

http://m.tulsaworld.com/homepage4/three-arrested-as-new-video-surveillance-system-foils-thefts-at/article_8e9de3be-dae5-5d39-85d3-a16035dda2bf.html?mode=jqm

Nothing worse than vendors stealing from other vendors. There have been times at shows I have entrusted stuff on my table to other vendors, good thing those 3 weren't there, or else I had too common of guns. ;)

I've met the Futch guy. Seymour is 45 min from my home town. That part of Texas never met many strangers in the gun community, but he was a different breed of cat. Nothing outward but definitely a "something isn't quite right" vibe.

Good that Wannenmacher's has stepped up the surveillance. I was there a couple years back in the early 2000s helping a longtime vendor. It's a helluva show but there'a way too much temptation for it to not be watched through a microscope.

Makes you wonder how many times they got away with it over the years.
But holy crap that's a butt load of stupid.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I think they need to go through their bound books.  There's a chance that if they were dumb enough to steal like this, that they were dumb enough that when they sold the stolen merchandise it ended up in the book.  Because an audit might get them into trouble...

While I'd feel sorry for the purchaser of stolen goods, it's more charges on these asswipes.

That and inventory their shops/warehouse.

Wannenmacher just benefited from a new system being put in place all across the area that houses the show.  The vendor of the equipment is installing it for free advertising.  I say it is a win win for all.  Especially when it is proven to work in a real world situation.  This is a huge show with thousands of people milling about.  Going to be a good system to have in place come September/October when the Tulsa State Fair invades.

Yeah, he mentioned losing guns the previous year worth a lot of money.  You don't just resell that stuff easily.  Definitely worth a search warrant of home and business.

The mentioned a very nice shotgun was take and put on their own table.  How did no one notice that showing up?  You would think that would stick out from a distance.  I guess he later put it away.

For anyone who's never been, go. Just go. It's a jaw-dropping experience if you have even the slightest interest in firearms, militaria, or western memorabelia. 3600+ tables. 11 acres of wallet-emptying goodness. Want a factory-boxed Sharps in .50-110? No problem. How about an unfired Arisaka manufactured on 12/07/1941? Here, have two. Maybe a couple Bowie-made knives with full provenance? Would you like them as seperates or in a matched presentation set? Got the Class III itch? We have 20 tables of scratch on aisle seven.

Actually next time if we are not in the field I'm going to put on the training schedule for one of the two days that my section is going to be involved in threat weapons identification training.
